K- Parents: Meeting with Ms Heeraman

As part of open door policy, the principal, Ms Heeraman is available to meet K-2 parent every Tuesday to discuss whatever topic they like.

Ms.Heeraman will be available on Tuesday January 12, 2016 from 2 -3 pm in her office to meet any K-2 parents specifically  who like to meet, discuss and have questions for her.

GRAND.OPENINGParents of Kindergartners are invited to join us for the Grand Opening of our Library on Tuesday, October 27th.
Classes K01, K03, and K05 are invited at 8:30 am. Classes K02 and K04 are invited at 9:15 am.
The library is located on the 3rd floor, room 311. Our guest storyteller is Steven Savage, the author and illustrator of many picture books. Read more about the author here: http://www.stephensavage.net/

Tuesday, October 20: PTA Coffee Hour at the PS/IS 30 Annex Building 8am; PTA Meeting at 7002 4th Avenue building 5:15pm. The PTA meeting will feature a special presentation by Mr. Tubbs on STEAM curriculum at PS/IS 30.

 

Friday, October 23: Special double feature movie night! Watch hotel Transylvania at 5:00pm and Cinderella starting at 6:30pm.  $2 donation at the door.  Food and snacks will be on sale.

 

Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30: Halloween Bake Sale. Come support your PTA Halloween sale on October 29-30th during lunch.  Baked goods and toys will be sold.  Items begin at $1.   Donations welcome!

 

Sunday, November 1: NYC Marathon School Spirit and Bake Sale.  Come support our school and the NYC runners from 9am-11am

Please join us for our weekly PTA coffee hour on Tuesdays at 8:15am at the PS/IS 30 Annex cafeteria. Meet other parents and have an opportunity to ask questions of your PTA executive board. The October dates are as follows: October 20th and 27th.

Tuesday October 20th at 5:15pm. Please join us for our monthly PTA meeting on Tuesday October 20th at 5:15pm in the Main Building auditorium. We will have a special presentation on our STEAM curriculum from Mr Tubbs. Food will be served.

Attention Middle School parents! Principal Ms. Heeraman is setting up grade-specific meetings over the next three Tuesdays. Each meeting will start at 2:30 and end at 3:15.

 7th grade parent meeting October 6th;
8th grade parent meeting October 13th; and
6th grade parent meeting October 20th.

Ms. Heeraman will speak to parents about the importance of each grade, testing, SEL, AIS, SPED, Guidance, NIA, and all the other resources we have in place to assist our students.

Coffee and snacks will be served.
We can provide baby-sitting services for 5 years old and above. If you bring a newborn- 4 years old please bring an older sibling to watch them.

Join us: Ragamuffin Parade Saturday October 3

On Saturday, October 3th, 2015, Bay Ridge will be hosting its forty ninth Raga Muffin Parade. All PS/IS 30 students and their families are invited to participate!

Students who are walking in the parade are encouraged to wear a costume or school uniform. All participants are to meet Ms. Guzman in front of PS/I.S 30 at 12:00pm on October 3, 2015. (The Parade begins at 1pm and ends at 2pm)

Permission slips will be sent home this week. Please return to school by October 2, 2015. url-5

NYC School Chancellor Farina is holding parent conferences on Saturday October 3 (8am to 1pm) for Middle School Parents and on Saturday October 17 (8am to 1pm) for Elementary School Parents. These free, grade-specific, and informative events were created to support parents and to help them have an impact on their child’s education, both in school and at home.

Conferences take place at Tweed Courthouse, 52 Chambers Street, Manhattan. There will be free breakfast, free childcare for children older than 4 years old, and translation services

Brooklyn Book Festival Welcomes Us This Weekend

Dear Parents!

Brooklyn Book Festival celebrates its 10th Anniversary on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th. This event shouldn’t be missed! Two days of meeting beloved authors, listening to their reading and panels, attending illustrators’ workshops and watching puppetry performances will ignite your child’s curiosity and excitement. It is a great start for the new school year.

For the very 1st time, Festival hosts a separate Children’s Day on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at MetroTech Commons in Downtown Brooklyn. On Sunday, September 20 all literary events for all ages will take place at Cadman Plaza. There are 300 writers and illustrators are scheduled to participate in the Festival! All events are free. You and your kids will meet so many popular children’s and young adult book authors including, Edwidge Danticat, Kevin Henkes, Lenore Look, George O’Connor, Matt de la Peña, Jon Scieszka and current top ten New York Times bestsellers Chris Grabenstein, Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri. Illustrators will conduct workshops. This is a great opportunity to enrich your home library with valuable autographed books!

There is no doubt that children and adults will enjoy and remember this day!

Come to Thursday’s PTA meeting at 4:15 at 7002 4th Avenue to meet other parents and teachers and learn how you can contribute to PS/IS 30. The PTA meeting will be followed by a Parent Information Night beginning at 5:30 pm, with presentations by Principal Ms. Heeraman, teachers and administrators. Learn and ask questions about school policies and curriculum for each grade.
