Our Local Public Library Branch Closure

We have been collaborating with Brooklyn Public Library, and I have an important announcement to share as it will affect our preparation and participating in Summer Reading Program.  Our local Bay Ridge branch is closing for repairs at the end of April – the last day will be 4/27. It is expected to be re-open in July, but we haven’t been given an exact date yet. The bookmobile will serve the area on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Meanwhile, please encourage your students and families to use the Fort Hamilton Library, Dyker, Sunset Park, and McKinley Park branches.  We will encourage students to read New York City Reads titles during summer, and plenty of copies will be available at all branches around us.  Remember, the titles are carefully selected by public and school librarians, and the books are of great quality!

Our Bay Ridge librarians want to support PS/IS 30 in the preparation and fulfillment of Summer Reading assignments. This year, they offer a service called ‘spring cleaning’ for Summer Reading lists, which is designed to help teachers make sure that the materials they would like to assign are available in sufficient quantity in the BPL system. Teachers can access this service by clicking on the following link and requesting a librarian’s assistance: www.bklynlibrary.org/summerreading or by contacting directly Katya Schapiro at schapiro@bklynlibrary.org
Please take advantage of Katya’s offer!
